Modern Day

The toddler runs willingly to the bathroom to sit on the toilet.

"Be sure and turn on the water in the sink a little bit. That seems to help", I shout to my husband from the living room.

My son looks at me and then follows with,

"Where did you hear that? Pinterest?"

I laugh and then reply, "No, I made that up myself or heard it back when you big kids were little. It helps little kids sometimes to go potty and relax."

"Oh. It sounded like something from Pinterest."

Gee, how did we mom know anything before the Internet or Pinterest?

I believe a little sprinkle of Pinterest is the perfect addition to my week and a little bit of time to get my creative juices flowing.

And of course, to see what kind of insanely awesome projects some of you are attempting. You go, girls!

I guess I haven't even scratched the surface or dared wonder if Pinterest covers potty training.

I better go check.

Monday Morning Wondering

How can two little girls make a full basket of laundry in just less than a week?

Considering that it's full of sleepers, pj's, onesies, burp cloths, hooded towels, pants and shirts for two, maybe that isn't all that bad. It just seems like a lot when I pull it out of the dryer and see it mounded in the basket.

It should be interesting when these two are teenagers. But then, at that point my oldest two will probably be out of the house and I'll have two less for laundry. Boy, that's hard to imagine. And sad.

I guess I'll take the pile of laundry rather than contemplate a quieter and less busy household.

It's Monday Laundry Day here and I'm buried in it. I also have Gianna's 12 month check up this afternoon.

What's on your agenda for the day?

Anyone Hear That Chirping Sound?

It's only quiet here on my blog because...

--I seem to still struggle with any real brain activity happening in this pregnant brain besides fulfilling the daily tasks that lie ahead.

--We are still rebounding into normal routine after our Christmas break.

--After celebrating a special couple and their beautiful wedding over the weekend, I'm still thinking about how truly blessed that they are family.

--My nearly eleven month old has practically taken off running around the house in the last day or two.

--I'm enjoying ordinary time, with ordinary things to do.

--We're busy enjoying the unseasonable warm, brown January in MN weather.

--I'm contemplating all the things I 'should' be doing to prepare for baby and things that I really should unpack. But then I still think I've got plenty of time for all of that and put my feet up instead.

--In my free time I'm busy earning Swag Bucks, of which I'm addicted to, in order to get more Amazon gift cards(scroll down my sidebar and click on Swagbucks icon to start earning and I'll get rewarded too!).

Lest you think I am doing something monumental like, say, having a baby extremely early (I'll be 36 weeks on Thursday), rest assured I'm just here hanging out at home.

How's every little thing with you?

Can't We Just Go Back To Rabbit Ears?

Isn't that what they used to call those antenna on the top of the T.V.? Wasn't television just simpler then? Not that I'd know. Most of my life I've had the privilege of cable or satellite t.v.

Is there any way to keep it simple these days? AND not pay an outrageous amount of money each month?

This is my new quest.

Here's the deal: Soon after moving in here, we put an eye sore antenna on top of our already tall, two story house here in this geographic oddity of land. (read: what some may call 'in the boonies')Being that we are nowhere near even the local affiliates of the mainstream networks, the reception is less than clear even under the best circumstances.

We have had satellite for most of the time we've lived here because the lack of reception drove me nuts. Fine and dandy until the monthly bill keeps creeping higher and higher and took a $6 jump earlier this year. And we're just paying for the most basic package!

With the realization recently that we're spending nearly $600/year on television of all things, we're re-hashing new ideas to simplify and save money.

We already have wireless internet, so that improves video gazing online. There's got to be some way to get t.v. through there, even if we have to boost up to the next level for the internet. We'd still be saving money.

I know there is a cable to purchase and connect the laptop to the t.v. and watch that way, but can we get regular ABC, CBS, NBC channels? I've heard of things like Hulu, does that work? What else is out there?

I hate to be a bother and ask for your help AGAIN....but....I just had to throw it out there.

I thought I'd test my readers' technical knowledge (or perhaps even your tech-savvy husbands) and implore your assistance. What's the easiest way to still watch my beloved Biggest Loser and Dancing With The Stars AND save our budget?

Our pocketbook (and my husband) will thank you if we can figure out a good transition that will work for us.
